The Atelier
Every ILHAN piece passes through the hands of our Shoreditch artisans — from the initial hide selection to the final edge-paint. We reject thirty percent of the leather delivered to us, saddle-stitch every structural seam, and finish each piece with a devotion to craft that machines alone cannot replicate. This is not manufacturing. This is making.
Inside the Atelier
Machines assist where they must. Hands decide where it matters. These are the moments that define every ILHAN piece.
Before a blade touches leather, our cutters study the hide for hours — mapping grain direction, noting natural marks, and deciding which panels deserve the finest sections.
Pattern layout on full-grain calf
Saddle-stitching demands two needles and unbroken concentration. Our artisans complete a seven-year apprenticeship before stitching an exterior seam unsupervised.

Edge paint is applied in thin layers, dried, and polished between coats. The result is a smooth, sealed edge that protects the leather for decades.
